Patio Awnings and Exterior Blinds for the Home
Broadly speaking exterior sunblinds and patio awnings can be broken down into retractable or fixed types. The terms "blinds" and "awnings" are generally interchangeable in common use and the distinction between the two has become very vague. We have simply used the term awnings to describe all types.
Retractable
Retractable patio awnings are generally purchased for reasons of providing shade to prevent furnishings fading or reduce the temperature of the home or to provide an outside entertaining area. They can be of the flat sheet variety eg President patio awning , or traditional eg The Victorian awning or the canopy type eg The Dutch blind or canopy.
Non Retractable
Non Retractable awnings are primarily used as decorative additions to buildings and these are not usually appropriate for domestic use. Included in this category will be approach awnings which can be used to highlight an entrance or even be used as a covered walkway down stairs.
Pergola Style Awnings
These are a relatively new innovation and Deans are proud to exclusively distribute the Pergotenda terrace awning, which is installed on its own attractive Pergola style timber frame. This awning is ideal for extending covered areas and is able to withstand up to Force 8 winds, presenting an opportunity to extend the outside dining entertaining season into those normally inclement months.

The Santana Patio Awning
is an ideal awnig/sunblind solution for the larger patio, providing coverage up to 6.5 metres (approx. 22´) in width by a projection of up to 3.0 metres (approx. 8´6") at an economical price.
The Markilux M910/915 Semi-Cassette Patio Awning (domestic)
This brand new patio awning has been developed for the new millennium by Schmitze-werke the renowned German awning manufacturer for special applications where there is fixing is limited only to the ends of the awning for example over a patio.
The Markilux 700 small patio awning
The Markilux 700 is a drop arm sunblind system of lightweight but extraordinary strength because of its triangular layout. The M700 will suit smaller patio windows where maximum shade is required to reduce heat gain or prevent fading.
The Deans Patio Awning with Lights
The conventional, if such a term can be used with this inovation, patio awning installation of lights has been within the cassette but Deans, with typical practical foresight, have seen a potential but very real, difficulty with this strategy.
The Dutch Canopy
has also been around for many years, traditionally made of timber. Nowadays the frame is usually constructed from aluminum extrusion with, in Deans case, high pressure diecast alloy corners and reinforced composite hinges making it easier to operate and more durable.
Conservatory Awnings
Whilst inside blinds help a little to reduce heat again inside glass buildings there is no avoiding the fact that blinds on the inside of any window can only deal with this heat once it has already entered the conservatory.
