The Marlesbury Awning 19th Century Design with 21st Century Construction

Traditional awnings have been manufactured and installed by Deans for over 130 years, and they include such staples as the Deans Victorian awning and the classic canopette. When absolute historical accuracy is essential, there can be no substitute for these iconic awnings. However, traditional awnings, by their very nature, have some limitations, especially when it comes to size, maintenance and mode of operation.

For these reasons, we developed the Marlesbury retractable awning for both commercial and residential use. The Marlesbury awning is based on a simple design, popularly found in 19th-century France, particularly in the main shopping area of the Paris Haussmann-Opéra-Saint-Lazare quarter.

The Marlesbury has a minimalist appearance along these classic French lines, though this simple design belies its inherent strength and robust construction, which is essential
for all year commercial applications.

Metal parts are either steel, which is powder coated in our own plant, aluminium or hand-painted hardwood, which has been sourced from accredited PEFC and FSC suppliers.

Operation can be via a simple crank mechanism or by wireless electronic controls, which may be linked to sun/wind or rain detectors.

Branding to the awning is achieved using the RAGS digital application process, and, where specific colours are not available from the standard range, we are able to create unique covers by employing the Deans Edition full cover printing process.

The Marlesbury Sash Awning is a classic design that fits seamlessly within a window recess, complementing Georgian and Victorian architecture.
