Greenwich® Awnings Installed at The Three Johns, Islington
The Three Johns in White Lion Street, Islington, is the new identity of what is actually a very old and well-established Public House, serving a huge selection of over seventy types of traditional craft beers.
For such an old traditional building, their awnings needed to fit in with the style of structure, yet be simple to operate by staff and robust enough to protect customers who prefer to enjoy their pint in the fresh air.
The Deans Greenwich® retractable commercial awning has been designed specifically for this purpose and was an obvious choice. With robust steel arms, powder-coated in a high-impact traditional black, the awnings present a bold appearance with vermillion covers, highlighting the pavement customer seating area.
Great care was taken with the installation and, to ensure accurate fixings of the arms to the facia pillars, a full graphic technical render was shown to the client. The render showed clearly that the pivoting side arms would not conflict with their existing, attractive, light fittings.
This type of attention to detail by our Surveying and Installation Teams is a constant example of their work, and we understand that bespoke awnings, as installed in old commercial buildings, are the product of years of experience.
When you visit the Three Johns, you might give a thought to the fact that, had you visited 130 years ago, your quiet pint might have been disturbed by exuberant debates being carried out by Lenin, Trotsky and their supporters who used the pub for their meeting when in revolutionary exile!
The Greenwich® Commercial Awning
An alternative to the Deans Traditional Shop Blind, the Greenwich Awning offers the same unrivalled strength and style but with cleaner, sharper lines. The fabric covered front profile and one-piece cover generate an elegant simplicity, popular with designers and architects to meet both modern and traditional stylistic requirements.
