Bespoke Classic Folding-Arm Awnings for Avobar, Marylebone
Bespoke awning solutions to challenging commercial projects is a speciality area of Deans’ Contract Department. When Avobar asked us to install new electrically operated Classic Folding arms awnings at their Chiltern Street café/bar, the client asked if it would be possible to install an extra awning over the small corner entrance.
At only 1.3 m wide, there was no possibility of installing a standard Classic retractable awning as the arms could not possibly retract. However one-off projects are a speciality of the team, who relished the challenge of designing bespoke compact-arms that would fit into the narrow aperture and thus complete the three-awning ensemble.
The retractable awnings were fitted with a fresh pineapple colour fabric, contrasting with the arctic white of the powder-coated awning framework.
The Deans Classic retractable commercial awnings are remotely operated by wireless remote-control switches. The corner location of the Avobar is prone to being windy, so sensors were fitted to the front edge of the awnings to detect unusual potential adverse gusts; when such conditions occur the awnings will automatically retract – a valuable safety option.
