Worlds finest traditional shop blinds

Deans Blinds have been the UK’s leading manufacturer and installer of traditional shop blinds since John Dean sold his first shop blind  to a birdcage shop in Putney High Street in the August of 1894. We still make them to the same pattern today but our manufacturing methods are much changed to ensure the consistency of quality. The Deans shop Blind received a Trade Association Excellency Award in 2022 and is the only British made awning to be recognised in this way.

Today, the wooden blind boxes are constructed from Meranti hardwood, sourced from FSI registered suppliers, which are carefully constructed with angled top boards, for water runoff, then hand painted with water based colours or stains to a finish of the customer’s choice.

Our blind arms are shaped, using CAD supported machinery for consistency of design, assembled with TiG/MiG welded steel fittings, laser cut for accuracy, and finally powder coated with an impact resistant finish in our own plant.

The Deans Traditional Shop Blind meets the demands of the most exacting requirements of a designer wanting authenticity, or a town planning department determined to keep their commercial environment safe from the march of unacceptable modernity.

Using our “awning builder” project page you can create your very own Deans traditional shopblind with the finishes of your choice. Once you have done this then all you need to do is contact our design team on 020 89478931; we will then help you by adding the finishing touches, including branding suggestions. If site drawings are available we may be able to provide approximate costings but a final budget will need to be agreed once our surveyor has attended site and confirmed installation details.

Should special brackets/fixings be necessary for safe installation, our works are able to design and construct parts to overcome the most complex building substrates.

Finally, all installations are carried out by our own expert site engineers under the Health and Safety auspices of the Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP/Safe Contractor) and adherence to the British Blinds and Shutters Association (BBSA) Code of Practice.
