New Victorian awnings for Superdry, Oxford St
Victorian style awnings are a common site in London’s West End shopping central area and no more so than on the famous Oxford Street. Westminster Council pay special attention to any shopfront installation in this iconic shopping area and the traditional Deans Victorian awning is particularly favoured as meets all the criteria required under the authorities strict planning regulations. It is no surprise therefore that Deans were the first choice by Superdry to supply and install traditional commercial awnings to their new flagship store which opened in November.
The six awnings were manufactured from scratch in our London factory and each awning was hand built with hardwood awning boxes assembled in the joinery department; steel arms fabricated in the metal shop, powder coated to a fine, resilient, finish in our own powder coating oven and covers from UV tolerant, soil resistant fabrics. Finally the awning valances were weighted for stability and branded with the Superdry logo through the means of Deans RAGS® digital transfer process.
Installation of the awnings was carried out by our own teams who have all been trained in house and who carry out their works under the Safe Contractor certified scheme which ensures the well being of the public when installations are carried out in such a high profile environment.
Deans have been carrying out the installation of this type of commercial awning on Oxford street and its environs since the nineteenth Century and we are proud to be associated with this valued area and to play a part in its preservation.
The new Superdry Flagship store, which opened its doors on the 10th November, has 28,000 square feet of display space and which endorses the Superdry commitment to the future for the high street; their new global flagship store is the epicentre of style and sustainable fashion. Split across two floors, it showcases the style, culture and breadth of five style choices; Original & Vintage, Superdry Studios, Superdry CODE, Superdry X and Performance Sport.
