Traditional shop blind for Ydbmf Cafe in Hither Green

Traditional shop blinds have been manufactured by Deans for over 130 years  in London and this traditional shop blind we have installed at  You Don’t Bring Me Flowers cafe and florist in Hither Green, South East London,  is  no exception. The hard wood awning boxing and front lath is carefully hand painted, as it has always been,  but now we use environmentally sound water-based paint rather than the rather hazardous  lead based paints used in used in the past.  Iron and steel work  for Deans traditional shop blinds  is no longer hand painted but powder coated in our in house powder coating facility.  What was traditionally a canvas fabric is now a modern synthetic, modelled to look like canvas, but far more resistant to soiling and fade.  The interesting and complex branding we have applied to this traditional shop blind has been achieved through the use of our bespoke  RAGS® branding process which permits accurate logo reproduction in a limitless variety of colours.

You Don’t Bring Me Flowers (or YDBMF)cafe and florist is a  quirky little cafe with a sun trap of a terrace. Shabby chic with original artwork and vintage furniture and crockery. Really excellent homemade cakes, savoury tarts and sandwiches. Good range of tea and quality cold drinks. One of the area’s  favourite cafés.  It doubles as a a lovely florist, selling fresh flowers and plants.

Hither green grew extensively with the arrival of the railways, the area is characterised by late 19th and early 20th century Victorian and Edwardian domestic architecture, most notably the Corbett Estate. The railway runs through the centre of the area, which divides Hither Green into an “east side” focused on Staplehurst Road, and a “west side” focused on Hither Green Lane and Springbank Road. The lane dates back to Roman times and runs between the Quaggy and Ravensbourne rivers.
