Historic Traditional Awnings restored at The Harry Cook, Cheltenham
Deans are delighted to have played their part in the revitalising of the Harry Cook Freehouse in Cheltenham. This historic public house (established in 1836) had become run down and sympathetic refurbishment was crucial for the pub to maintain a sustainable business model moving forward.
The three Traditional awnings on site were in very poor condition but local planners insisted that any replacement awnings must have minimal impact on the heritage setting, whilst considering their commercial use.
Fortunately, our Design Team were able to arrive with a plan which incorporated the use of many of the original awning components. This meant that, not only did the new awnings fit the clear declared environmental criteria, but the re-cycling of many of the original parts complimented the declared sustainable objectives of our client
Classic Barrier
The Traditional awnings have been branded, in correct period style, and the whole project was finished off by the installation of nine Classic Barriers; delineating the business demesne and creating a safe, alfresco, environment for customers.
