Combination Riverside Awning System for The Humble Grape, Canary Wharf
The Humble Grape already had some modest retractable awnings installed at their Restaurant/Wine Bar on Canary Wharf, but wished to maximise the ambience created by their Riverside location.
Our Designers set to work and produced a number of proposals, submitted to the client in three-dimensional real-world graphic form, and agreed that a freestanding structure with back-to-back awnings would provide cover for up the 40 guests in comfort.
Marlkilux 1300 commercial awnings were chosen, as they would integrate with our Syncra back-to-back freestanding system, and provide 48 square meters of cover, enough to meet the client’s objective. Six retractable awnings were supplemented by the installation of low-power/high-output radiant heaters, and the whole combination is controlled remotely by wireless control from within the restaurant itself.
As a final touch, all the awnings were branded with the white, distinctive Humble Grape logo contrasting with the Forest Green awning covers.
Naturally, such a project and the nature of the environment created many obstacles, but these were overcome by close communication with the client and a detailed schedule of works.
Years of experience in commercial projects of this nature, combined with comprehensive knowledge of construction and associated regulations, meant the project was able to proceed within an agreed timescale and budget to the satisfaction of the client and all associated Canary Wharf interests.
The Markilux Syncra awning system combines two Markilux awning products on to one frame structure providing double the area of shelter to a standard wall mounted awning system.
