Awnings and Architecture
Awnings have been used to provide shelter and shading on commercial and residential buildings alike for hundreds of years. Architecturally they can complement the traditional style of an old building and add ambience to any restaurant, hotel or shop giving an aura of the tradition and quality which may be found within.
Today, architects are also building the specification of awnings into new-build commercial developments as the qualities of solar and UV defence are recognised. Costly air-conditioning bills can be reduced by the simple expedient of adding external shading and, with the addition of automatic controls, architects can build environmentally sympathetic systems into their designs.
