New Traditional Victorian Awning for a Beloved Camberwell Café
Few places represent Southwark better than Mary’s: a classic London café, a beloved part of the local community since 1965.
Deans Blinds were proud to be invited to join the Walworth Heritage Action Zone initiative, working with Historic England and specialist heritage architects, Purcell, to give Mary’s a new lease of life, while maintaining their charm and local character.
The traditional, bespoke, handmade Victorian awning we have installed was, from the start, an integral part of the project. The retractable shop awning is constructed from recyclable materials and finished in water-based paint to match a new shopfront.
Whilst we manufacture and install all types of awnings, from small canopies right up to automated multiple commercial awning systems, our roots lie with this first awning made by John Dean, our founder, back in 1894.
The wealth of experience and skills, collected over the past 130 years, enables us to accept and welcome challenging projects. Our in-house design team will produce digital pre-installation schemes to help turn your ideas into reality.
Deans Shop Awnings & Shop Blinds
We first began crafting the Deans Traditional Shop Blind in 1894. Since then it has gone on to become an icon of the British High Street, instantly recognised all over the world.
