Award Winning Awnings With de Gournay Summer Graphic

Award winning Deans Traditional Victorians already figured prominently on the  façade of Mayfair’s fine fish restaurant, Scott’s, and now we have exceeded all expectations by accomplishing another first in the awning industry.

In association with champagne producers Krug; Scott’s wished to theme their entire frontage for the summer with a de Gournay inspired mural which had to be sequentially applied to all three awnings in order not to compromise the floral themed design. de Gournay is renowned for its exclusive hand painted wallpapers and the application of such a complex graphic over this huge (18 meters) expanse was quite beyond any awning manufacturer employing conventional hand painting techniques.

Accuracy of design replication was essential and, after digitising the extended artwork, our technicians were able, using our exclusive RAGS® application process, to apply the graphic to the all three awnings in the correct sequence to produce the astonishing result you see in these images. The awning fabric used was soil and UV resistant 300 gm acrylic and, to complicate matters still further, the reverse was specified to be in black.

In order to maximise the impact of this facade change  the entire installation was carried out overnight and passers-by were astounded in the morning to see the transformation.

For over 120 years Deans have been at the forefront of traditional awning manufacture and installation but this project shows that tradition can be enhanced by the use of modern technology, combined with the respect for the heritage of old buildings, to produce stunning  high street montages which command respect and attention.
