Traditional Awning Skills and Aesthetics have been Maintained, Nationwide, by Deans Since 1894

A TV quiz question could be “What common theme would have been seen by Victorian era shoppers on the historic thoroughfares of Oxford Street, London, New Street, Birmingham, King Street, Manchester or The Trongate Glasgow”?

The answer, which may not immediately spring to mind, is that virtually every shop would have a traditional Victorian awning covering the display window, and a great many of them would have been installed by Deans Blinds, then known as Deans Blinds of Putney.

The same business, now Deans Blinds and Awnings, today, makes exact replicas of these Victorian awnings in their East London factory to the exact standard our founder, Mr John Dean, specified when we were founded back in the late 19th Century.

As they were back then, today, the traditional Victorian awning, when installed to retail shops or restaurants, would have been branded to maximise the promotional opportunities presented by the large expanse of their covers.

Traditionally, the awning, or shop blind, would have been operated with a long wooden pole, and this is the usual method even today. However, the clever engineers at Deans have developed a wireless operation option which, in certain circumstances may be specified.

In the AI world of today some things never change, and one of these is the appearance and quality of a genuine Deans Victorian awning with its resilient hardwood timber and robust, powder-coated steel arms.
