Traditional Awnings for Acre Deli with an Unusually Authentic Touch
Our client at the Sutherland Design Studio were especially keen that these three Traditional awnings you see installed at the Acre Restaurant on Golborne Road, Kensington, met their detailed criteria.
The hardwood hand painted awning boxes and laths were standard fare for our joiner craftspeople, but the client specifically wanted the awning to look as rustic as possible to retain originality. A key part of this specification is that the steel side arms should have a raw 19th-century finish.
Back in the 19th Century this would have been normal, but the arms would have quickly tarnished and developed a rusty appearance. Fortunately, unlike our forebears, at Deans we have installed our own custom powder-coating plant and have been able to powder coat the arms and metal fixings with a robust clear finish. This means the arms will retain their new/old look without any unsightly rust.
