Deans Shop Awnings for Devon Café

This year we have been working with Johns in Devon on updating their shop facades. Johns runs delis and cafés and we have produced traditional awnings for both their sites in Instow and Appledore.

For their site in Appledore we created three bespoke Deans Shop Awnings to fit their shop front. The Johns of Appledore site sits right on the river Torridge estuary in a seaside community. The awnings we made were created in line with this nautical theme and produced in blue and white colours.

Our Deans Shop Awnings, or Victorian Awnings as they also are known as, are customisable beyond just colours, however. All parts of the awning are made to fit the specific requirements of each building. Alongside arms, lath, cloth and valances, the housing box for the awning is also individually created.

For Johns site in Appledore we created classic flat top boxes for their awnings. This type of housing box is made from hardwood timber and provides long-lasting protection for the awning when retracted. The box is painted in any colour that the client desires and makes up a visual element alongside the awning as well.

Johns have been serving customers in Devon since 1926. With new shop blinds in place, they are set for yet another summer in their delis and cafés. For anyone visiting Devon, we recommend paying them a visit.
