RIB® Apex entrance canopy at Sunnydown School

This new RIB® Apex style entrance canopy, has been installed recently at the  Sunnydown special school in Caterham, Surrey. This type of Apex entrance canopy  serves both to draw attention to the venue entrance and to shelter visitors. The Apex canopy has been constructed  using the aforementioned RIB® system, which we have developed in our London factory, incorporating  light weight aluminium profiles fitted together without the use of degradable plastic parts. The construction ensures exceptional resistance to weathering when installed to external elevations and provides a durable solution for areas that, by their very nature, are susceptible to the hazards of inclement weather.

Installation of this type of awning requires a certain amount of on-site construction and the nature of this location means particular care had to be taken in respect of the physical construction process and due concern for the staff and pupils on site. All Deans installers have undertaken rigorous training and we have qualified for certification under numerous official schemes including the SAFEcontractor certificate and the Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS).

Sunnydown school is a truly life-changing educational establishment: transforming the lives of young men as well as their families. The positive atmosphere and feeling of encouragement underpins the ethos of all they aspire to do each day. Located in this historic 1850’s main building, and extending into the newest development: a brand new eight classroom teaching block with state of the art technology and an extended, light-filled, new dining hall.

Caterham’s original village centre is located at the top of Church Hill with the newer commercial area of the town sited in the valley alongside the railway line. There are 4 secular buildings in Caterham , including The King and Queen public house, three churches as well as a vault and tomb in St Lawrence’s churchyard at the top of Church Hill.
