Bespoke blind solution for country pub garden

Bespoke blind systems have always been a speciality for Deans and these bespoke blinds at The Golden Retriever Pub in Bracknell, near Wokingham,  Berkshire are no exception.  The attractive garden area was always a popular place for outside dining and drinking but the evenings could be chilly so the requirement was for us to come up with a solution which provided protection from these unfriendly breezes but was sufficiently flexible to enable the area to be completely open when the weather permitted. The unique bespoke blind solution our Development Team came up with was a combination of  components from our external awnings, to provide sufficient flexibility,  and elements of our cafe barrier system to provide some wind proofing. The blind rollers are mounted onto substantial awning roller brackets  which permit simple opening and closing via the application of  robust awning internal gearboxes. At the bottom of each roller screen the aluminium dowel insets are held firmly in place with expanding cafe barrier clips which allow sufficient flexibility to deal with sudden wind gusts.  The project was completed by the manufacture and installation of triangular infill panels, in the same fabric, which neatly finish the eaves areas of the rustic timber pergola.

The original location of the Golden Retriever was  is believed to be a forester’s cottage dating back to 1841 but was later developed into dog kennels which is how the name came about. The present pub is only sixteen years old it has already developed its own traditions including an annual ale and music festival and a glass Christmas tree at Yuletide. On the edge of Swinley Forest you can enjoy classic ales and a selection of meals including fresh roasts on Sundays.

Located  south-west of Windsor Great Park, Swinley Forest runs from Bracknell, in the north, to Bagshot, in the south. The forest is owned and managed by the Crown Estate and comprises over 2,600 acres of mainly Scots Pine woodland across gently undulating hills. There is Roman defence  within the forest called Caesars Camp and a number of Napoleonic era redoubts which were built as training areas early in the 19th Century.
