Traditional Deans restaurant awnings at AOK

Traditional Deans restaurant awnings have been installed at a new restaurant and bakery; AOK Bakery, who provide foods free from gluten , dairy and refined-sugar.  These Traditional Deans restaurant awnings are based on the well known Deans shop blinds we have been manufacturing since our beginnings in 1894. The awning is ideal for restaurants who provide outside dining, due to it being perfect  for withstanding the variable British weather.  It is  still the only awning that may be confidently used in all but the most severe weather conditions. These traditional restaurant awnings have covers in the AOK blue with white text picked out on the valances.  The awning boxes are constructed from hardwood, sourced from approved harvested forests, and are finished in a shop front matching dove grey using  appropriate coats of hand applied high grade environmentally safe paint.

AOK is  part restaurant/cafe (upstairs) and part bakery (downstairs) and all of it has a specific focus towards healthy food. Breakfasts include “Acai and Coconut bowls”, “a stack of fluffy blueberry pancakes with organic maple syrup and fresh berries” and the requisite full English. At  lunch and dinner, they serve  sea bass ceviche, rocket and pomegranate tabbouleh, homemade gluten-free gnocchi and BBQ lamb chops.

At 1 Dorset Street building in Marylebone, there is a green plaque on the building which reads: Charles Babbage 1791-1871 Mathematician and pioneer of the modern computer lived in a house on this site 1829-1871. Some consider Babbage to be a “founder of the computer”, Babbage is considered to have  invented  the first mechanical computer which eventually led to more complex designs featuring electronics.  Many of the  essential concepts of modern computers are to be found in Babbage’s analytical engine.
