This Markilux 8800 tensioned Track fixed awning system is a remarkably flexible system for covering large areas where a high degree of tension is required. However there cannot be many examples of such an unusual installation as carried out by Deans Blinds at the Hoxton Grill in London. For this particular project the awning was installed to steel girders high up in the atrium of the restaurant to give cover to diners below. This actual installation was carried out a little while ago but some maintenance work on the building meant the covers now needed to be changed as they had become spoiled during the work.
As you will imagine this was not an easy task but was successfully achieved by our highly skilled installers working in conjunction with the client to conclude a safe and satisfactory project and the awnings once again do a fabulous job.
The Markilux 8800 won both the iF product design award 2013 as well as the German Design Award 2014 which is a mark of 8800´s outstanding design. Areas up to 36 square metres can be shaded with a single unit, and two independent special gas pistons provide permanently high cover tautness.
Hoxton Grill is a contemporary restaurant with an open kitchen, leather banquettes, lounge area and private dining rooms. It serves American-inspired breakfasts, brunch and an all-day menu. An old-fashioned long bar serves classic cocktails, tonics, wines and bites. With guest DJs on Fridays and Saturdays, Hoxton Grill is one of Shoreditch’s most popular late-night destinations.
Formerly a predominantly working class area, Shoreditch and Hoxton have, in recent years, been gentrified by the creative industries and those who work in them. Former industrial buildings have been converted to offices and flats, while Curtain Road and Old Street are notable for their clubs and pubs which offer a variety of venues to rival those of the West End. Art galleries, bars, restaurants, media businesses and the building of the Hackney Community College campus are further features of this transformation.
