Commercial & Contract Work

Retractable awnings are generally purchased for reasons of providing shade for goods in the shop window or to protect customers in outside eating areas. They can be of the flat sheet variety e.g. Kenley, or traditional e.g.  Deans Shop Blind. All our commercial awnings can be electric or manually operated and graphics may be applied.

Commercial awnings and canopies can be broken down into retractable or fixed types. The terms “blinds” and “awnings” are generally interchangeable in common use and the distinction between the two has become unclear; we have simply used the term awnings to describe all types.

Restaurants and bars have had to adapt to the changing demands of more cosmopolitan customers who have traveled abroad and now expect to enjoy the pleasures of eating and drinking outdoors in the same way they  have experienced abroad. This al fresco dining style is enhanced by the installation of awnings and canopies.  We have a multitude of awning systems,  from simple canopies, to highlight the entrances,  right up to larger electrically controlled awnings which operate via both manual and environmental stimuli.   Graphics can be specified to enhance the outward appearance and often be used as an inducement to sponsorship.

Architectural awnings provide Solar shading which  is increasingly being used to effectively control the internal environment of buildings by helping to reduce heat gain in the summer and heat loss in the winter. Glazing is static whereas awnings and blinds s are dynamic allowing the occupier or even the building management system to operate the blinds based on the prevailing environmental conditions.

Awnings can be part of an architectural design or can enhance an existing building profile by adding interesting features or  by softening an otherwise hard facade. Whether fixed or retractable the consideration for awnings is advised at the start of a project of the installation is to be accomplished without additional substrate works requirement.

Awnings on terraces and outside dining areas for cafes and bars are increasingly becoming essential to maximise the through traffic of customers especially in the summer months. We have a multitude of product solutions for these applications from simple canopies, to highlight the entrance, to such an area, right up to all weather retractable systems which can be installed or be free standing. They may also be equipped with side walls and heating and lighting to extend seasonal use.  Graphics can be specified to enhance the outward appearance and often be used as an inducement to sponsorship.

Hotel  entrances are the first thing clients see and need to be clearly marked for prospective customers especially in the competitive world of the leisure industry. Well constructed and sympathetically designed entrance awnings can make all the difference to your premises being noticed. They are also a welcoming feature often allowing for a comfortable place for customers loading or unloading luggage and for waiting for ongoing transport. Many hotels are remembered simply by their awnings and these often feature prominently on advertisements and reviews.
